LMIA: Employ Foreign Workers

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that an employer in Canada may be required to obtain prior to hiring a foreign worker. A positive LMIA will indicate whether there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the position and that there is no Canadian worker or permanent resident able to do so.

To be eligible for an LMIA an employer must prove:

  • There is a need for a temporary foreign worker
