Super Visa

The super visa is a multi-entry visa that allows eligible parents and grandparents to visit family in Canada for up to two years without the need to renew their status.

The Super Visa provides multiple entries into Canada for up to 10 years.

Understanding Super Visa



To be eligible for a super visa you must:

  • Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada

  • Have a signed letter from your child or grandchild who invites you to Canada which includes:

    • Assure financial support for the length of your visit

    • List and state the number of people in the household of this person

    • Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident

  • Have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is:

    • Valid for a minimum of 1 year from the date of entry

    • Minimum of $100,000 coverage

    • Provide proof of paid medical insurance 

  • Apply for a super visa from outside Canada

  • Be admissible to enter Canada

  • Take an immigration medical exam

  • Meet certain other conditions
